vCAC 5.2 Installation Prerequisites

vCloud Automation Center Server Virtual Machine Prerequisites

To prepare for installation of the vCloud Automation Center server virtual machine

1. Verify that the virtual machine is configured with the following hardware and software:
• 2 vCPUs or more. • 4GB RAM or more.
• 30GB disk space or more. VMware recommends creating a separate partition for use by the virtual machine.  
• Windows Server 2008 R2 virtual machine, with the most current updates.
• Static IP address. 2.Verify that the vCloud Aut mation Center Server is joined to a domain.

3. Create a domain user account (for example, vCACService ) in Active Directory.

4. Log in to the vCloud Automation Center Server as administrator.

5. Add the vCACService account to the local administrators group.

 

vCloud Automation Center Prerequisite Checker

To run the vCloud Automation Center Prerequisite Checker

1. Log in to the vCloud Automation Center Server using the vCACService account.

2. Download and install the .NET Framework 4.5 from Microsoft (D:\dotNetFX45_Full_Setup.exe).

3. Open D:\vCAC-52-Installation\Tools\vCAC-PrereqChecket-Setup.exe.

4. Click Next.

5. Accept the license agreement and click Next.

6. Select Prereq Checker, change the location if needed, and click Next.

7. Change the destination folder if necessary and click Next.

8. Click Install.

9. Click Finish.

 

Installation Prerequisites of vCloud Automation Center Server

Confirm that the following installation prerequisites for vCloud Automation Center are met before performing the installation.

 

Verify the Installation Prerequisites of the vCloud Automation Center Components

To verify that the vCloud Automation Center components are properly installed

1. Log in to the vCloud Automation Center Server using the vCACService account.

2. Go to Start Menu > All Programs > VMware > vCAC > vCAC Prereq Checker.

3. Under User Account Control, click Yes.

4. Select only the following components:
• Core Install > Manager Service, Model Manager Web Services and Website.
 DEM Install > Worker and Orchestrator services.  

5. Click Run Checker.

6. After all the components needed for the installation are listed, inspect the status for any missing installation prerequisites.

 

Install and Configure IIS Components

To install and configure the components for Internet Information Server (IIS)

1. Log in to the vCloud Automation Center Server using the vCACService account.

2. Configure MSDTC and start the service if it is not already running, as follows:
a. Open Component Services from Administrative Tools  
b. Expand Component Services > Computers > My Computer > Distributed Transaction Coordinator.
c. Right-click Local DTC and select Properties.
d. Click the Security tab  
e. Select Network DTC Access.
f. Select Allow Remote Clients.
g. Select Allow Inbound and Allows Outbound.
h. Select Mutual Authentication Required.
i. Click OK.
j. A warning message stating that the MSDTC service will be stopped and restarted is displayed. Click Yes.
k. Click OK in the MSDTC service has been restarted dialog box.
l. Close the Component Services window.

3.Install the Web Server (IIS Modules) role with the necessary role services  as follows:
a. Open Server Manager from Administrative Tools.
b. Select Roles in the left panel  
c. Click Add Roles under Roles Summary  
d. Click Next. e.Select Web Server (IIS) and click Next.
f. Click Next on the Introduction screen.
g. On the Role Services screen, add the following role services:
     • Common HTTP Features, as follows:
          o Static Content Compression (under Performance)  
          o Default Document (under Common HTTP Features).
          o HTTP Redirection.
     • Application Development, as follows:
          o ASP.NET. (on the Add Roles Wizard dialog box, click Add Required Role Services)  
          o .NET Extensibility. oISAPI Extensions (under Application Development)  
          o ISAPI Filters (under Application Development).
     • Security, as follows:
          o Windows Authentication (under Security).
     • IIS 6 Management Compatibility, as follows:
          o IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility (under Management Tools > IIS 6 Management Compatibility)  
h. Click Next  
i. Click Install on the Confirmation screen.
j. Click Close on the Results screen.

4. Install Windows Process Activation Services, as follows:
a. Open Server Manager from Administrative Tools.
b. Select Features in the left panel.
c. Click Add Features on the right  
d. Select the following features and click Next:
     • .NET Framework 3.5.1 Features:
          o .NET Framework 3.5.1.
          o WCF Activation (on the Add Features Wizard dialog box, click Add Required Features)
               o HTTP Activation.
               o Non-HTTP Activation  
     • Windows Process Activation Service:
          o Process Model.
          o .NET Environment.
          o Configuration APIs.
e. Click Next  
f. Click Install on the Confirmation screen.
g. Click Close on the Results screen.

5. Configure Windows Authentication, as follows:
a. Open Server Manager.
b. Expand Roles in the left panel.
c. Expand Web Server (IIS).
d. Select Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager  
e. Under Connections in the middle pane, expand the server (for example, vcac.vmware.local).
f. Expand Sites.
g. Select Default Web Site  
h. Under Default Web Site Home in the right pane, under IIS, double-click Authentication.
i. Right-click Anonymous Authentication and select Disable.
j. Right-click Windows Authentication and select Enable.
k. Select Windows Authentication and on the right pane, click Providers.
l. Select Negotiate under the Enabled Providers and click Remove.
m. Select NTLM under the Enabled Providers and click Remove  
n. Under Available Providers select Negotiate and click Add. Click OK.
     o.Under Available Providers select NTLM and click Add. Click OK.
p. Select Windows Authentication. On the right pane, click Advanced Settings.
q. Under Extended Protection, select Off. (If it was already Off, change it to something else, and change it back to Off.) Confirm that Enable Kernel-mode authentication is selected, and click OK.

6. Register .Net4 Framework with IIS  
a. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories  
b. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
c. Click Yes in the User Account Control box.
d. Navigate to “C:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework64\v4.0.30319” folder.
e. Type aspnet_regiis –i and press Enter.

7.After all the configurations are completed, reset IIS as follows  
a. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories  
b. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
c. Click Yes in the User Account Control box.
d. Type iisreset and press Enter.
e. Close the Command Prompt window.

8.Configure the Secondary Logon Service, as follows:
a. Open Services  
b. Set the Secondary Logon Service to Automatic and start the service.

9.Configure the Firewall, by disabling firewall services between vCloud Automation Center Server and the database server. Alternatively, open the ports as described in the product documentation.

 

Batch Logon Right for Model Manager Web Service Account

1. Log in to the vCloud Automation Center Server using the vCACService account.

2. Open Local Security Policy from the Administrative Tools.

3. Expand Local Policies.

4. Select User Rights Assignment in the left pane  

5. Double-click Log on as a batch job policy.

6. Click Add User or Group button.

7. Type vCACService and click Check Names and click OK.

8. Click OK and close Local Security Policy window.

 

Verify Installation Prerequisites of vCloud Automation Center Components

To verify the prerequisites for installation of vCloud Automation Center components

1. Log in to the vCloud Automation Center Server using the vCACService account.

2. Open vCAC Prereq Checker from the Programs menu.

3. Under User Account Control, click Yes  

4. Select only the following components:
     • Core Install > Manager Service, Model Manager Web Services, and Website.
     • DEM Install > Worker and Orchestrator Services.

5. Click Run Checker.

6. After all the components needed for the installation are displayed, confirm that the status of each installation prerequisite is satisfied, as illustrated in the following screenshot.

Installation Prerequisites of vCloud Automation Center Database Server  

To verify the prerequisites for installation of vCloud Automation Center database server

1. Log in to the Microsoft SQL server with local administrator privileges.

2. Configure MSDTC and start the service if it is not already running, as follows:
a. Open Component Services from Administrative Tools  
b. Expand Component Services > Computers > My Computer > Distributed Transaction Coordinator.
c. Right-click Local DTC and select Properties.
d. Click the Security tab  
e. Select Network DTC Access.
f. Select Allow Remote Clients.
g. Select Allow Inbound and Allows Outbound.
h. Select Mutual Authentication Required.
i. Click OK.
j. In the warning message dialog box stating that the MSDTC service will be stopped and restarted, click Yes.
k. Click OK in the MSDTC service has been restarted dialog box.

3.Configure the database TCP/IP protocol as follows:
a. Click Start > Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2  
b. Click Configuration Tools.
c. Open SQL Server Configuration Manager.
d. Select SQL Server Network Configuration.
e. Select Protocols for MSSQLSERVER.
f. Right-click TCP/IP and select Enable (if it is not already enabled)  
g. Close SQL Server Configuration Manager  

4.Configure the database credentials as follows:
a. Click Start > Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.
b. Open SQL Server Management Studio.
c. On the Connect to Server screen, type the SQL Administrator credentials and click Connect.
d. Add the vCACService account to the logins.
e. Add the vCACService account to the sysadmin role so that it can create the database and alter its size  

5.If you are using SQL Server Express, set the SQL Server Browsing service to automatic, and start it.
