How to Create Custom Request Fields

vCAC comes with the basic fields out of the box, but invariably there will be things that your organization will want to track that's specific to your processes. vCAC makes it very easy to to create custom fields on your request forms to help collect this information to drive automated processes. The goal of this functionality, and a self service portal, is to gather as much necessary information on this first hit from the customers for the fastest provisioning times. 

 

Create a Custom Checkbox Property Definition

A property definition will define the attributes of the property that will later be linked into your blueprint.

Steps:
1. Navigate to Enterprise Admin > Property definition
2. create a new property definition

3. Assign a name to the definition while making sure that the name ends with "Custom.Property". 
4. Enter a display name that will show up on the customer request screen to prompt the customer
5. Choose the control Type of CheckBox
6. Check the "Required" box if you would like this field to be required
7. Press the green check box to save the entry.

7. Navigate to the blueprint that you would like to use this checkbox by going to Enterprise Admin > Global Blueprints and choosing the blueprint
8. Go to the properties tab
9. Click the "New Property" button and enter the property name from step 3 the exact same way (ex "Test.Custom.Property")
10. Check the "Prompt User" box to ensure that the field shows up to the end user
11. press the green check box to save, then the OK button.

12. Access the self service portal and select your blueprint with the custom parameter
13. Go to the "Additional Settings" tab and see your new field in all of it's glory

Create a Custom DropDown Property Definition

Steps:
1. Navigate to Enterprise Admin > Property definition
2. create a new property definition

5. Choose the control Type of DropDownList
6. Check the "Required" box if you would like this field to be required
7. Press the green check box to save the entry.

8. Press the "Edit" Button under the property attributes column
9. Click "Add Property Attribute"
10. Select the type of "ValueList"
11. Give the list a name 
12. Enter your drop down values separated by commas

13. Navigate to the blueprint that you would like to use this checkbox by going to Enterprise Admin > Global Blueprints and choosing the blueprint
14. Go to the properties tab
15. Click the "New Property" button and enter the property name from step 3 the exact same way (ex "Drop.Custom.Property")
16. Check the "Prompt User" box to ensure that the field shows up to the end user
17. press the green check box to save, then the OK button.
